"To Bell The diCtATor" - a book by Hristo Grozev

There is no such a book. But it could be.
If the investigative journalist Hristo Grozev decides to write it one day, I would gladly provide a first version for its cover.

Hristo Grozev is a Bulgarian investigative journalist, included on the Kremlin's wanted list. He runs the Netherlands-based website Bellingcat and a global open-source investigative team that is redefining the way we think about news, politics, and the digital future.

Hristo Grozev lives and works in Vienna, Austria. He works on security threats, cross-border covert operations and the information used as a weapon. His investigations often target the Russian regime.

In 2022 he received the European Press Award for Investigative Journalism for his investigations into the identities of the suspects in the 2018 Novichok chemical poisoning in the UK.

Grozev is one of the protagonists in the 2022 documentary Navalny, which won the British Academy of Film and Television Arts' Best Documentary Award and Oscar for feature-length documentary form the US Academy Award In February 2023.

To Bell The diCtATor is a page-turning story of removing the mask of a modern-day dictator. In fact Belling the Cat is a fable also known as The Bell and the Cat and The Mice in Council. In the story, a group of mice agree to attach a bell to a cat's neck to warn of its approach in the future, but they fail to find a volunteer to perform the job. Belling a cat (literally, putting a bell on the cat) so that it cannot move without being heard. The term has become an idiom describing a group agreeing to perform an impossibly difficult task.

In this book Grozev recounts, "It was: my name and my mission. To put bells on the cats".
